Graduate Diploma in Social Work with Children and Young People

Post-qualifying specialist award in social work with children and young people

This programme provides part-time continuing professional education for qualified social workers and others working with children and young people, their families and carers. It takes the place of the Post-qualifying Child Care Award, which is being phased out nationally because of a new framework for post-qualifying (PQ) social work education. It is now the principal PQ qualification for social workers specialising in work with this client group.

The course is most frequently accessed by qualified social workers as part of their employment with local authorities or voluntary/independent sector organisations in the South West. It has been established in partnership with local employers, and is approved by the General Social Care Council (GSCC) as a post-qualifying award in specialist social work.

Applications for the programme are also welcomed from professional groups other than social work, who may be interested in either the full award or in taking a limited number of units.

You can find out more about the programme on these pages or you can download the full programme details in the course leaflet (Word, 75Kb).
