At this early stage of my doctoral studies, the aims and methodology of my research are still being developed. My research interests currently lie in the nexus between migration, development and gender. I expect to adopt a gender perspective to look at the impact of migrant remittance practices on recipient individuals and households in Morocco and/or migrants themselves in France and the UK. I plan to conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses to answer my research questions.
Migration policy; integration policy; migrant remittances; social development; policy evaluation; gender; Europe; France; United Kingdom; Morocco.
Originally from France, I studied my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne, before moving to the UK six years ago. Prior to undertaking doctoral studies, I worked as a researcher in different organisations. I previously worked at the School for Policy Studies as a Research Associate on the FP6 PROMINSTAT project (Promoting Comparative Quantitative Research in the Field of Migration and Integration in Europe) with Ann Singleton. My research experience also includes working as a Research Officer at the Immigration Research and Statistics service (IRS) of the Home Office (now UK Border Agency) where I contributed to a feasibility study aimed at developing the methodological framework for the evaluation of the European Refugee Fund (ERF) programme for the UK. I also collaborated on projects relating to the integration of migrants and ethnic minority populations in the UK while a Research Assistant at the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations (CRER) at Warwick University.
My thesis is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), as a 1+3 studentship, 2008-2012.

I contributed to the development of a database containing essential technical information on statistical datasets on migration, integration and discrimination in 27 European countries (all EU Member States plus Norway and Switzerland), as well as the variables included in these datasets. I was responsible for collecting and inputting information on the British and Irish datasets. This database is available on the Prominstat project website.
