Dr Julie Selwyn on Woman's Hour - the crisis in adoption services

Dr Julie Selwyn, director of the Hadley Centre for Adoption and Foster Care Studies at the School for Policy Studies, will be taking part in a discussion on Woman's Hour tomorrow [18 December] between 10.00 and 11.00 about the findings of recent research into the costs of adoption and the inter-agency fee. Listen live or listen back on the BBC Woman's Hour website.

Since reporting on the crisis in the sector, Manchester Adoption Society (MAS)  has gone into administration and Julie will be joined in the discussion by Rob Finlay the Chief Executive from MAS.

Before joining the University, Dr Selwyn worked for 20 years as a children and families social worker in a variety of settings – child and family support centres, therapeutic communities and as an adoption worker. This experience continues to influence her teaching and research and she maintains her links with the sector through her contribution to local in-service training programmes and her work with local authorities on policy and service development.
