Stuart Biddle is Professor of Physical Activity & Health at Loughborough University, leader of the Behavioural Medicine research cluster, and Programme Leader for the MSc in Physical Activity & Public Health. He was Head of the School of Sport & Exercise Sciences at Loughborough from 2001-2007. Stuart’s research adopts a behavioural medicine approach in studying the prevalence, correlates, and change of physical activity and sedentary behaviours.
He leads a Medical Research Council funded intervention study designed to reduce sedentary behaviour in young adults at risk of diabetes, and is sedentary behaviour theme leader for the NIHR-funded Leicester-Loughborough Lifestyle Biomedical Research Unit, starting in 2012.
In 2009-10 he chaired the Government’s Department of Health Expert Group on ‘Sedentary Behaviour and Obesity’. He was President of the International Society for Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity in 2009-2010.
The evening will also include the presentation of Lifetime Health and Fitness Awards to MSc students graduating in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health.
