Julie is a Reader and Director of the Hadley Centre for Adoption and Foster Care Studies at the School for Policy Studies.
Before joining the University, Julie worked for 20 years as a children and families social worker in a variety of settings; child and family support centres, therapeutic communities and as an adoption worker. This practice experience continues to influence her teaching and research. Julie maintains links with practice through contributing to local in-service training programmes and working with Local Authorities on policy and service development.
Teaching interests
Julie has wide teaching interests contributing to social work training programmes at postgraduate level as well as undergraduate teaching on the BSc Childhood Studies.
