Simon Pemberton

Personal profile

After completing his PhD, 'The Production of Harm in the UK: A social harm analysis', Simon was awarded an ESRC Post Doctoral Fellowship to develop his doctoral work on social harm. He has subsequently published a number of articles and chapters on the issue of social harm. Following his fellowship, Simon was appointed as Lecturer at the School.

He has recently completed work on two funded projects: 'MultiMedia testimony on Rural Poverty and Social Exclusion' with the Rural Media Company and Dr Eldin Fahmy (Funder: Big Lottery) and 'Whistleblowing' : The social control of organisational harm with Professor Steve Tombs (Funder: British Academy).

He is currently writing with Christina Pantazis on the topic of the recent developments in counter terrorism legislation and its impacts on suspect communities and human rights.

Simon is Director of the Social Policy degree programme and Associate Editor of the journal Policy and Politics.
