Patricia Collins BSc (Hons) MCSP SRP

Patricia has worked as a physio for nearly 10 years, amassing a vast array of experience. She spent five years working for the North Bristol NHS trust before moving to the private sector. Specialising in musculo-skeletal outpatients and orthopaedics, Patricia worked at BUPA Hospital Southampton prior to commencing a post as Regiment physio at a Ministry of Defence base in Hampshire. Here she gained a wealth of experience in both occupational injuries, and both acute and chronic sports related injuries.

Patricia spent almost 3 years working at the Jonathan Webb Clinic Bristol, where she gained excellent exposure to orthopaedic and sports injury patients, from elite athletes to the older clients, as well as young, developing athletes.

She is currently the club physio at Old Colstonians RFC providing match day physiotherapy and medical support.

Nina Leonfellner BSc (Hons) MCSP SRP

Nina works 3 days a week at the Clinic and has a passion for sport and keeping fit. She qualified as a physiotherapist from McGill University, Montreal, Canada in 1999, and has been treating sport and musculoskeletal injuries ever since. Nina also has a special interest in Occupational Health and Ergonomics, she conducts desk and manual handling assessments and risk management.  Nina is a dedicated rock climber. 

As  a native Canadian, Nina has extensive experience in winter sports such as downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, and figure skating. Nina also was a competitive swimmer growing up in Canada. As a physiotherapist, Nina sees herself as a coach passing on valuable information and skills, whilst motivating people.

Gael Barnes BSc MCSP SRP

Gael qualified as a physiotherapist in 2002 having previously studied for  a degree in Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Exeter. She  worked in the NHS for over 3 years before taking time out to go  travelling. Gael then moved into the private sector working at the  University of the West of England where she treated students from a  variety of different sports at recreational, club and elite levels for 4  years. She is now studying part-time working towards a Masters degree in Sport  and Exercise Rehabilitation. She has a keen interest in cycling she hopes to  focus her dissertation around this area. Bringing skills from both the NHS and private sector, Gael treats a wide variety of patients and helping them get out of pain, back on their feet and into activity and sport post injury. 

Penny Porter BSc MSc MCSP SRP

Penny graduated from the University of the West of England in 2000.  In addition to her Physiotherapy qualifications, Penny also holds a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from Loughborough University, and is a BASES (British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences) accredited interdisciplinary sport scientist.  She also holds personal training, coaching and strength and conditioning qualifications.

 After initially working in the NHS, Penny pursued a career in elite sport, by becoming the Head Physiotherapist to the British water polo teams. Following this, she became the Academy Physiotherapist at Bristol Rugby Club, before become the First Team Physiotherapist (2007 - 2009).

 A former international swimmer and British Record holder herself, Penny continues to work with the British swimming teams, traveling around the world as part of the medical staff.  Penny also has experience of working for British Volleyball and currently also works with England Rugby.  

Penny draws on a vast amount of knowledge and experience due to her combined physiotherapy and sports science knowledge making her a valuable addition to the team.

Claire Callaghan BSc MSc MCSP SRP

Claire balances being the manager of the Sports Medicine Clinic with treating a few hours each week. She combines extensive knowledge of injury assessment and treatment and passion for physical activity and sports rehabilitation to her patients, treating patients of all levels and ages.

Claire qualified as a physio at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia in 1995, and completed an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy at Cardiff University in 2011.  Claire has vast experience in both the public and private sectors in Brisbane, Sydney and the United Kingdom. She has been at the clinic since 2005, becoming manager in 2008. In the sporting arena, Claire is currently working closely with UK Athletics coaches, elite tennis players and the University's High Performance Squad , and has worked previously worked with the English Rugby Football Union, Queensland Rugby Union, England Hockey (South West) and Australian Premiership football teams. She also has a strong interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation, developed through work with leading surgeons both in Australia and at Spire Hospital, Bristol.

She recently completed her MSc dissertation relating to physical activity and exercise in women.  

Charlotte (Charlie) McCall BSc (Hons), MSc, NSCA

Charlie qualified as a physiotherapist in 2001 followed by an MSC in Sport and Exercise Medicine in 2008.  After working in the NHS  for a number of years she moved to concentrate on being a specialised Musculosketal physiotherapist within a sports medicine clinic. She currently holds the honorary position of Deputy Chief Physiotherapist for British University and Colleges Sports (BUCS).
