Osteopath profile

Gerry Gallacher - OsteopathGerry Gallacher BDS BSc (Hons)

I have worked at this Clinic since 2001, prior to that I worked in Devon, Cornwall and in New Zealand.

After qualifying as a dentist in 1986, I spent time working in Oral and Maxillofacilial Surgery, so the first sports injuries I treated were fairly messy ones such as broken jaws and cheekbones and facial lacerations!

I have always been keen on most sports, particularly football and athletics, and I competed in middle distance track and cross-country races in the 1980's. When I began competing in triathlon in the 1990's, I was really impressed with the treatment I received from osteopaths for various injuries.

This lead me into studying full-time for a degree in osteopathy, and I qualified with a Bsc(Hons) from the British School of Osteopathy in 1998. As well as working at the clinic four days a week, I now give lectures to dentists all around the UK on the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries.

These days, I keep fit mainly by swimming and running - not only after my 2 young children, but also in 5Km and 10Km races, and Aquathlons (swim-run races).
