Honorary Reds

The Honorary Bristol Red is awarded at the Sporting Club dinner to those who have made an outstanding contribution to sport at the University of Bristol, both on and off the field of play.

Bob Reeves, MEd 1982

"The Bristol Sporting Club will enable all Bristol graduates to stay in touch through sport. It is an honour to remain associated with the University through the Sporting Club."

Chris Hartley, BSc 1983

"I was proud to have raised tens of thousands of pounds towards the new boathouse and so a dinner to celebrate Bristol Olympians successes seemed a pleasant end to the year."

Moger Woolley, BSc 1959

"I was delighted and surprised to be invited to the first 'Reds' dinner and had no idea that I was to become the first Honorary Red. I felt extremely privileged and pleased to be so honoured."

Nigel Wray, BSc 1970

"I always enjoyed my time at university and have equally enjoyed keeping in touch over the last couple of decades... To receive an Honorary Red was highly unexpected and upon reflection a great honour."

Gordon Trevett

"I was honoured to be awarded a honorary red in 2015 for services to rowing coaching. A 'Red' is a unique and very special award which reflected the great association I had with the University of Bristol and my hard working athletes."

Lisa Daley

"Over the last 4 years I have applauded the many greats, listened to many fantastic stories and to think I now share that award with these individuals is truly a great achievement and came highly unexpected. I can't thank SEH enough for their support throughout my sporting journey."
