Bristol Alumnus Stakes Olympic Marathon Claim

Claire Hallissey was first Brit in the London Marathon running 40 seconds quicker than Jo Pavey's time from last year in what I hope will prove to be enough to get her selected for the UK Team for the 2012 Olympic Marathon.

On Saturday Imogen Ainsworth ran a 4 1/2 second PB for 1,500 metres in California as she prepares to run her first 3,000 metres steeplechase at sea level - she already has the qualifying time for the UK Olympic trials from her debut at the event at altitude in the States and will be back to race the chase on 22/23 June.

Meanwhile Steve Mitchell is in Font Romeu altitude training with the UK Athletics Squad (as a self-funded member) as he prepares for his bid to secure Olympic selection in the 1,500 metres.

We will keep you informed as these 3 Bristol University graduates (and current members of Bristol & West Athletic Club) battle to get selected for the 2012 Olympics.
