Community Sports Leadership

The Level 2 Community Sport Leadership Award is a fantastic foundation course for anyone looking to develop new skills that will enable more people to enjoy sport and physical activity at a grassroots level. It is a national qualification developed through Sports Leaders UK that:

The Course Programme

The course consists of around 30 hours of tutor contact time and a practical assessment where candidates spend a day delivering activity sessions for local primary school children in the University Sports Centre. Candidates must also complete a minimum of 20 hours community volunteering in a leadership role. Candidates are encouraged to commit to supporting the Bristol Festival of School Sport, a large scale University led event taking place annually in March. This event is a great opportunity to put new found skills into practice and help inspire pupils from every secondary school in the city.

The course runs twice during the academic year, in the Autumn and Spring terms.

Participants need to attend all sessions which are held at the University Sports Centre on Tyndall Avenue.

Cost

The costs of the course are subsidised by the University through charitable donations from various sources including the Alumni Foundation, the Foundation for Leadership through Sport and the John Rutley Sport Fund.

University of Bristol students will be charged £30, University staff £60, and general public £120.

The course is normally over-subscribed, so applications will be assessed based on the information that you provide.
