Digital Sociology

Our digital sociology footprint is shaped by Professor Susan Halford’s co-Directorship of the Bristol Digital Futures Institute, a major new initiative premised on the centrality of social scientific knowledges and methods to understanding and shaping digital futures. Our research in this area includes work on social divisions posed by computational data and AI, the politics of digital data, social attitudes and social media, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems. Researchers in this field contribute to the sociology of knowledge, expertise and technology .
