Once you register for a PhD you will be provided with close supervision by leading academics in your field as well as undertaking research training units.
All PhD students are expected to follow the MSc or Diploma in Social Science Research Methods. Exemptions are available from any of the research training units if you can provide evidence and/or documentation of your experience and qualifications to the Programme Director.
Students take the research training programme to develop their understanding and skills in social science research. Find out about the MSc in Social Science Research Methods (Politics and International Relations) or the MSc in Social Science Research Methods (Sociology).
There will be formal reviews of progress. If satisfactory progress is not made then students may be required to downgrade to the MPhil programme.
