Professor Terrell Carver visited Argentina and Uruguay, 1st to 11th September 2012, as a guest of their respective Political Science Associations. He delivered a lecture on 'Marx and Democracy' at the Third International Congress on Democracy held at the University of Rosario, Santa Fe State, in the Federal Republic of Argentina, and also at a special seminar at the University of Buenos Aires.

Crossing the Rio de la Plata he lectured on Butler's performative theory of gender at the University of the Republic of Uruguay in Montevideo.

As part of the visit Carver negotiated 'exchange' agreements between the Political Studies Association of the UK and respective local associations SAAP and AUCiP to facilitate internationalisation of the profession.
