- Tony Ades and Nicky Welton lead the programme.
- Tony Ades is currently working on multiple outcome synthesis, calibration of treatment effects, cancer studies, and chlamydia.
- Nicky Welton joined the group in 2002 and has recently taken up a post as Reader in Statistical and Economic Modelling in Bristol. She contributes to and supervises work on a range of methodological and applied evidence synthesis and economic modelling projects. She has a particular interest in the role of evidence synthesis in cost-effectiveness analyses. She leads the group’s work on Expected Value of Information analysis for identifying future research priorities and optimal study design.
- Deborah Caldwell joined the group in 2002. She did her PhD on indirect and mixed treatment comparisons (MTC) and is now completing an MRC Population Health Scientist Fellowship on the validity of MTC of psychiatric trials. She has recently taken up a lecturer post in public health in Bristol, working on evidence synthesis of complex interventions.
- Sofia Dias joined the group in 2007 to work on bias models. She now leads the group’s work on Mixed Treatment Comparisons (MTC) and was the lead author on NICE Decision Support Unit’s Technical Support Documents on Evidence Synthesis. She is currently Director of the NICE Guidelines Technical Support Unit.
- Hayley Jones joined us in 2011. She has worked primarily on the MRC-funded NIQUAD project, a synthesis of data on problem drug use and crime, and also on estimation of drug use from wastewater analysis. In 2015 she started work on an MRC Fellowship on the synthesis of diagnostic test data.
- Daphne Kounali had worked in Bath for several years when she joined the group in 2012, working on mapping outcomes in trials for depression. She now works with Tony and Nicky on synthesis projects involving incidence and prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and studies of the role of CT in pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, and infertility.
- Howard Thom is a health economic modeller, with an interest in value of information analyses and structural uncertainty in economic models. Howard joined the group in 2013 to work on a range of applied economic modeling and value of information projects, including anticoagulants for atrial fibrillation, and use of anti-depressants according to baseline severity of symptoms.
- Edna Keeney is a health economics modeler who joined the group in 2014 working on an applied MTC and economic evaluation of methods for induction of labour. She is currently the Scientific Coordinator of the NICE Guidelines Technical Support Unit.
- Theodoros Mantopoulos is a PhD student who joined the group in 2013 working on methods to incorporate covariate effects in cost-effectiveness analysis.
- David Phillippo joined the group in 2015 to work on bias adjustment thresholds for treatment decisions in network meta-analysis. His current research interests include methods for adjusted indirect comparisons, on which he is undertaking his PhD and is the lead author of a forthcoming NICE Decision Support Unit Technical Support Document.
- Christopher Fawsitt joined the group as a health economics modeller in 2016 and is currently working on a number of applied projects in the areas of infectious disease and arthroplasty. Christopher’s research interests include decision modelling and priority setting. His previous research has focused on applying these techniques within a maternity care setting in Ireland.
