Shape of the Teaching Year 2010-11

Students are required to be in Bristol during term time. If they need to be absent during term time, they must obtain written permission from the Undergraduate Programme Officer – in the first instance they should contact their Personal Tutor.

AUTUMN TERM

w/c 11.10.10 Weeks 1-10 Normal teaching weeks (Teaching Block 1)

SPRING TERM

w/c 24.01.11 Week 12 Teaching timetable suspended;
Submission of TB1 coursework;
exams/tests of TB1 units
w/c 31.01.11 Week 13 Reading week (for students); Marking week (for staff)
Teaching timetable suspended, though some special teaching events may be scheduled
w/c 07.02.11 Weeks 14-20 Normal teaching weeks (Teaching Block 2)
NB: there will be no teaching on the afternoon of the Students’ Union AGM – date to be confirmed

SUMMER TERM
Tue 03.05.11 Term begins
w/c 03.05.11 Weeks 21-24 Normal teaching weeks (Teaching Block 2)
NB: Monday 2 May is a Bank Holiday – no teaching
w/c 23.05.11-17.06.11 Central examinations period
Fri 24.06.11 Term ends: students may be required to attend tutorial and other meetings in Bristol up to and including this date

Resit examinations will be held in the first two weeks of September and students must plan to be available to come to Bristol during this period in case this proves necessary.  Resits will only be held earlier by arrangement for students due to begin a year abroad commitment in early September.
