Information for Prospective Undergraduates
At Bristol, Modern Languages degrees are designed to enable mastery of one or more foreign languages, but besides achieving high standards of linguistic fluency and proficiency, our students also immerse themselves in diverse aspects of the cultures and societies in the countries where these languages are spoken and used. Our programmes include study of a broad range of literature, aspects of linguistics, medieval studies and the cultural, political and social history of relevant countries. Consequently, our graduates are not only experienced linguists, but also have an in-depth understanding of the cultures and societies where the languages are spoken. In addition to these skills, the maturity gained from living overseas will provide you with an attractive skills set for employers.
