Dr Connor Doak

Teaching

Connor's teaching encompasses a wide variety of Russian literature and culture from the nineteenth century to the present. At undergraduate level, he has designed units on 'Gender in Russian Culture since 1917' and ‘Chekhov on the World Stage’; he regularly convenes the school-wide unit 'Introduction to the Study of Cultures'. Additionally, he regularly contributes to ‘Introduction to Russian History and Culture’, 'Introduction to Russian Literature', 'Hedgehogs and Foxes: The Nineteenth-Century Russian Novel', ‘Writing Revolution: Russian Literature 1910-1940’, and 'Russia in the 1990s: Decade of Chaos', as well as Russian language teaching at all levels. At MA level, he contributes sessions to 'Tradition and Experiment in the Twentieth Century Novel' and 'Imagining Gender'.

He welcomes enquiries from prospective postgraduate students working on any area of nineteenth- or twentieth-century Russian literature, especially those working on topics related to gender and sexuality.
