2013 marks the 700th anniversary of Giovanni Boccaccio, one of the greatest writers of European literature. To celebrate, a series of events aimed at both academics and the public are taking place in the UK, organised by Dr Rhiannon Daniels (University of Bristol), Dr Guyda Armstrong and Professor Stephen Milner (University of Manchester).

13 artists have been invited to create books in response to Boccaccio and his works. These books will be part of an exhibition called ‘Locating Boccaccio in 2013’, on display in the John Rylands University Library, Manchester from 10 July to 20 December 2013. At the beginning of December, the artists’ books will move to the Special Collections Room of the Library at UWE's Bower Ashton campus.

An online exhibition showcasing the artists' books gives you virtual access to each book, including pages which aren’t on display in Manchester.
