Health and Safety Policy Statement
The University's general policy with respect to the health and safety of its employees while at work, as set out in its Safety Policy Statement, and the organisation and arrangements presently in force for carrying out that policy (see the Organisation Overview below), have been prepared in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.Health and Safety Organisation
The organisational arrangements for complying with the University Safety Policy are set out in the document University of Bristol Health & Safety Organisation. This document shows how responsibilities cascade down from members of University Council at the top of the organisation, who have ultimate responsibility for health and safety, through those staff with managerial and specialist roles and ending with the responsibilities shared by all staff, whatever their position, and students.
Everyone should be aware of their responsibilities in matters of health and safety in order to achieve and maintain a safe and healthy working environment. These responsibilities are set out in the above documents and in the information on roles and responsibilities section of our website.
