MA in Modern Languages
Fiona MalkinOnce I found the MA Modern Languages course at Bristol and the pathway in War and Culture, I realised anything else would be a compromise. If I could design my perfect course, this would be it.
The Bristol MA is a broad-based programme which allows you to explore the languages, literatures, cultures, histories and societies of Europe and the Hispanic and francophone worlds, in a way that suits you.
You may choose to follow one of four distinct thematic pathways, which enable you to cut across languages and cultures:
- European Literatures
- Visual Cultures
- Identities and Cultures
- War and Culture
Whichever pathway you choose, you will have the opportunity to continue language study at advanced level.
The MA is team-taught by specialists in a range of languages, disciplines and cultures. Our students are drawn from a variety of backgrounds. Some have undergraduate degrees in Modern Languages, others do not. Studying for the MA is a chance to become part of a thriving academic community, with a close-knit student body and a lively programme of research and social events.
