The Department of Religion and Theology is pleased to announce the appointment from 1 September of two new lecturers.
The Department of Religion and Theology is pleased to announce the appointment from 1 September 2013 of two new lecturers, Dr Eric Greene as Lecturer in East Asian Religions and Dr David Leech as Lecturer in Philosophy of Religion.Eric completed his PhD at the the University of California Berkeley in 2012. He will be teaching undergraduate courses in Chinese religions and Chinese Buddhism. He has research interests in Zen Buddhism, and the transmission of Buddhism to China and the West. He will also be adding Classical Chinese to the range of languages available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
David completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2010. At undergraduate level he will be teaching courses in religion and ethics, the philosophy of religions and atheism. His research interests are in early modern philosophy of religion, in particular Cambridge Platonism, and the metaphysical origins of modern philosophical atheism. He is also interested in the philosophical implications of current naturalistic explanations of religion.
