Help and guidance
We can provide help and guidance to ensure that all necessary approvals are in place before you begin your research.
1. Funded studies are captured through the University Full Economic Costing tool that has two questions:
- Does your research involve human participants (including but not limited to questionnaires, interviews, human samples and clinical research)?
- Does your funder state that they require a research sponsor to be identified?
If you answer yes to either of the questions above please complete the Research Registration Checklist [Word (70Kb)].
Please note: If your research does not require the University of Bristol to act as the Sponsor please complete the Research Registration Checklist [Word (70Kb)] and email it to the Research Governance Team.
2. Studies funded by existing grants and student studies that involve human participants, their tissue or data should be notified to the Research Governance team using the Research Registration Checklist [Word (70Kb)].
Research Registration Checklist
The Research Registration Checklist [Word (70Kb)] and Guidance Notes [Word (84Kb)] for completing it are available. The completed and signed checklist should be sent to the Research Governance Team.
Recruitment of research participants must not start until all approvals are in place.
