About Research Professional
Research Professional provides access to an extensive database of funding opportunities and research news items from over 30 countries around the world.
Bristol University has the ‘gold service’ for this site, which provides researchers with full access to all UK and overseas material. You can search for funding information by discipline, sponsor, database searches, by recent calls or by upcoming deadlines. Using the community tools you can share your findings with your colleagues and access resources that other people have prepared for you.
Staff and students have FREE access to Research Professional online from all computers on the internal network. You can do this without a username and password, however individual accounts enable:
- Automated email alerts –tailored according to your discipline and research interests
- Saved searches and bookmarks - store items of interest for future reference, download and email to colleagues
- Access from home or conferences –so no need to be on the University network

Registering
When you first go to the site, you will have three options:
- Sign in - if you already have a Research Professional account, enter your existing username and password
- Register - if you don't have a personal account, follow the on screen instructions to set one up. (You can only do this if you are accessing the site from on campus)
- Campus Access - if you are using a computer physically located at your institution, you can access Research Professional without signing in to a personal account.
Training
Sign up
Research Professional run monthly broadcast demonstrations which allows individual users to sign up from their own desks.
The session is suitable for first time or relatively new Research Professional users, and will cover:
- Self registration and logging in
- Building funding opportunity searches
- Setting personalised alerts
- Saving and bookmarking items
- Subscribing to news alerts
- Configuring your personal profile
To sign up for the demonstration, the user just needs to send an email to clientservices@researchresearch.com,
- State "Research Professional Broadcast Demonstration" in the subject line
- Give the date of the presentation you would like to attend in the body text
Once registered, users will be sent the information they will need to view the demonstration. As places on the demonstration are limited, it is important that users sign up ahead of time for any sessions they would like to attend.

Demonstrations will take place between 10.00AM and 11.00AM on the fourth Tuesday of every month:

- Tuesday 25th Oct 2011
- Tuesday 22nd Nov 2011
- Tuesday 24th Jan 2012
- Tuesday 28th Feb 2012
- Tuesday 27th Mar 2012
