Approval of contract terms associated with research proposals
In some cases the funder will include, with the invitation to submit a proposal, the terms and conditions intended to apply to the eventual contract.
If there are known terms and conditions associated with the funding being applied for, these must be vetted and approved by the Research and Enterprise Development (RED) division. This is so that we can advise you on the implications should your proposal be successful, and so that we can reserve our position with the funder.
In certain cases where the tendering process is very formal, the submission of a bid constitutes an acceptance of the contract terms; if the bid is selected, there will be no further scope for negotiation. In such cases, the contracts team will review the terms and, if appropriate, send a formal approval to the Finance department, who have the authority to sign the bid on behalf of the University.
