  3. Click Save

Options available on the Visibility settings drop-down menu.

What the different settings mean

Content types

Availability of Pure content types on EBR and their visibility settings
TypeVisible on EBRNotes
Research outputs Yes
(manuscripts need validation)

Pure visibility settings are set to 'Public' by default. To have a status other than 'Public' please contact the Open Access team at oa-audit@bristol.ac.uk (they use this setting to alert for press embargoes). Manuscripts will remain invisible until they are validated by the OA team, so you may not see the record in EBR for a few days after it has been completed in Pure.

Activities Yes Pure visibility settings are set to 'Public' by default.
Prizes Yes Pure visibility settings are set to 'Public' by default.
Projects Yes

Only some Projects are set to 'Public' by default. Most of the funded research project data is sourced from University Finance systems. Sourced records are set to 'Sensitive' by default, except for UKRI funded projects which are made public. Principal Investigators are encouraged to make their projects publicly available on EBR (more information below). Related applications and awards are 'Highly confidential' by default and do not appear on the portal.

Impacts No Impact records are not displayed on EBR regardless of the Pure visibility settings. Changing these settings will only affect the discoverability of the record within the system.
Datasets Yes Pure visibility settings are set to 'Public' by default.
Student theses Yes
(need validation)
Theses will remain invisible until they are validated by the Library team (please contact lib-research-support@bristol.ac.uk for help).

Principal Investigators are encouraged to edit their projects to make them publicly available on the portal, however, some considerations should be taken. There are no restrictions for projects funded (in all or part) by: UK Research Councils, UK Government departments (unless classified in some way), charities, European Commission. With all other funders, if in doubt, please check the project contract before making infomration publicly available.

Principal Investigators are also welcome to upload documents to support project information (eg leaflet, public report etc), but are cautioned to check the contents and remove any inappropriate or sensitive material prior to uploading.  It is not recommended to upload grant application documents.
