Secure video streams using scalable video encryption

A new way of encrypting digital video streams has been developed which has the fundamental advantage that the video can be subject to transcoding (for example to change the bit rate) without decrypting.  Scalable Video Encryption (SVE) means that transmitted video is only ever decrypted at its final destination.  As well as the basic advantage of security SVE also reduces the computational processing needed at intermediate points in the transmission.
