Project management
Project Managers from the University's Research and Enterprise Development (RED) division provide a project/programme and business management capability in support of the University's research base. Individuals are engaged in a wide variety of tasks, from leading University strategic initiatives to coordinating 'commercial' bids to managing relationships with industry. Project Managers interact with senior management within both the University and externally, and drawn on other expertise within RED and elsewhere in the course of their work.
The Project Management team can provide the following services:
- Support for 'commercial' (ie. non-'grant') bids including consultancy, and advice on costing and pricing
- Negotiation of mutually beneficial 'deals' prior to establishment of contracts
- Providing the lead on project and programme management elements of major academic research projects
- Supporting the development and implementation of strategies and business plans
- Development and management of 'strategic' relationships and ventures
- Development and implementation of fit-for-purpose processes and systems within major research activities
- On a project-by-project basis, to take full responsibility for any and all aspects of commercial negotiation, contract management, delivery of work programmes, setting up and management of subcontracts, monitoring and control of budgets, QA, reporting, customer care, securing of intellectual property, exploitation of results etc.
