DocCom Solutions, a Bristol based company that design and implement advanced communication and management solutions for the NHS have announced significant new senior appointments to strengthen their growing team.

Founded by doctors Jonathan Bloor and Jonathan Shaw, DocCom is a spin out from University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (formerly UBHT), and are based in the SETsquared Business Acceleration Centre in Bristol.

DocCom was founded in 2007 to address the communications issues between NHS Trusts and their junior doctors. Within just two years, the company has successfully implemented a system for the Severn Deanery - the NHS organisation responsible for the training of doctors in this region.

Earlier this year, DocCom also won £10,000 in the University of Bristol's prestigious Enterprise Competition and the work on their pilot system was nominated for an NHS Health and Social Care Award.

As a rapidly growing company, DocCom have invited Nick Buckland to become their non-Executive Chairman. Nick holds a number of public and private sector board appointments, including the southwest Regional Development Agency (where he was a past Deputy Chairman) and the Technology Strategy Board - a national body with a £1billion budget to develop collaborative research and development activity between academia and industry.

"I first became aware of DocCom and the two Jonathans earlier this year. Having looked at their business plan and recognised the important gap that their solutions fill in the market, I was keen to see how they develop and to help them in any way that I could," said Mr Buckland.

He continued, "I am delighted that they've asked me to assist them in growing DocCom - we are already in discussion with a number of funders for the next round of investment and our prospect list of clients is looking strong."

DocCom also announced the appointment of Richard Rock-Evans as an Executive Director. Mr Rock-Evans will take responsibility for finance and business planning.

The SETsquared Business Acceleration Centre, who introduced Nick Buckland to the company during one of the SETsquared Business Review Panels, continues to support DocCom.

Nick Sturge, Director of the Bristol SETsquared Centre, commented "DocCom is a great business and this appointment shows how the founders understand the benefit of getting high quality directors on their Board."

DocCom are one of a number of ventures from the medical and healthcare sectors that reside within the SETsquared Centre.
