The Future Looks Bright for Bristol Neuroscience
[Posted on 07 October 2003]
Following the outcome of the MRC's quinquennial review, the MRC Centre for Synaptic Plasticity received £4.7 million funding to continue research for another five years. In the same funding round, individual MRC Centre members were also highly successful and the grants will result in further work on recognition memory and galanin.
In addition several Career Development Fellowships were received from both the MRC and the Wellcome Trust. All fellowships are for four years and will enable research projects into aspects of synaptic plasticity, focusing on the modulation of neuronal membrane potential, interactions between calcium-sensitive proteins in the post-synaptic cell, and activity patterns of neurons in the hippocampus.
