The University and your spin out
Members of staff require authorisation from the University before setting up or becoming an officer (director or secretary) of a spin out company. The interests of the University, the individuals and the spin out company must all be considered, and legal issues addressed, including:
- the use of intellectual property owned by the University;
- the impact on existing and future duties of members of staff;
- the use of University resources, such as space and equipment.
A number of provisions and processes have been put in place to regulate the spin out process.
