Starting a new business
RED is the focus of advice and support for staff and students who want to start a new company.
Bristol actively promotes exploitation of its research outputs. Often this is done through licensing intellectual property to existing companies. But, in some cases a new company may be set up to exploit University research outputs, known as a spin out (or start-up).
If you are thinking about starting a new company to exploit your research take a look through this section of our web site, then contact our Technology Transfer team.
In addition, experienced business support staff are ready to provide informal business advice. We can also put you in touch with external experts to help you develop your business idea. We suggest attending one of our Business Advice Surgeries, Contact Ray.Crispin@bristol.ac.uk (0117 954 6992) or e-mail business-advice@bristol.ac.uk giving brief details of your business idea and the areas in which you would like advice.
