Software licensing
Have you developed some computer software, created a database or even a simple program in the course of your work to improve efficiency or to solve a specific problem? If so, what is valuable to you may well be valuable to others and could generate income or other benefits for you and your department.
There is a growing demand for services relating to the safe distribution of University of Bristol owned software, either as open source or proprietary code. RED now offers a full range of support services aimed at assisting developers in finding users for their software and in distributing that software without the worry of misuse or loss of attribution. Examples of some Bristol software that we are currently marketing are given on our software licensing opportunities page.
If you have created even a simple piece of code, contact our Research Commercialisation team for:
- assistance in evaluating the potential of your software in accordance with your desired outcomes
- customising a strategy for distributing your software to your target audience
- drafting agreements appropriate to your project to ensure protection of rights
- assistance with implementing marketing strategies
- managing royalty income and redistribution
