Fellowship Bootcamp Programme Spring 2018 Faculties of Health Sciences and Life Sciences

The Fellowship Bootcamp Programme, now in its fourth year, brings together an interdisciplinary cohort of fellowship candidates for information and training sessions tailored to applying for fellowship awards. These sessions provide in-depth support to the candidates to raise awareness of fellowship funding options and to prepare them for future fellowship applications, including;

  • Funder-specific advice delivered from funder representatives (where possible) and the research development team;
  • An explanation of the application and submission process, and who can help;
  • Finance overview and how to cost your project;
  • Hearing from current fellows and getting top tips from funder panel members;
  • Series of lunch-time seminars to cover topics e.g. lay summaries, impact, patient and public involvement, industry engagement activities;
  • An opportunity to network with peers.

Who should apply?

This programme will support early career researchers who are intending to apply for their first externally funded fellowship within the next 12-18 months.

  • Candidates can self-nominate but must discuss their plans and have approval from their Line Manager. Nominations must be received by March 5th.
  • Candidates can review the content from previous Bootcamp Programmes on our Fellowship website.

How to apply?

  • Candidates must make themselves available to attend the sessions (2-3) in April (dates to be confirmed) plus a nominated funder-specific workshop and at least two of the lunchtime seminars (held throughout April/May). (Approximate time committment from the candidates is 8-10 hours).
  • Places are limited to 40 candidates from across both Faculties (5 candidates per School)
  • To register your interest please send a short lay summary on your research plans or ongoing research including a paragraph on why you are considering the fellowship route (no more than 1 page in total) plus your Curriculum Vitae (CV) (2 pages max), copying in your Line Manager to collette.sheahan@bristol.ac.uk. Please also indicate which Funder(s)/scheme you are most interested in targeting (if known).
  • Deadline is 5th March 2018.
