The ESRC is organising a Knowledge Exchange Best Practice Workshop. This workshop is for senior social science academics (more than five years of academic experience post-PhD) who are undertaking research of potential relevance to non-academic stakeholders in the public, private and third sectors. All social scientists are eligible to apply but priority will be given to ESRC-funded researchers if the workshop is oversubscribed.The Purpose of the Workshop is:
- To increase understanding of how research can be applied to inform policy and practice
- To explore a range of frameworks that can be used to support knowledge exchange activities
- To identify skills, tools and techniques for maximising the impact of research
- To network and share experiences with colleagues from other research institutions and non-academic organisations in the public, private and third sectors.
The workshop will be held at West Lodge Park, Cockfosters Road, Hadley Wood, Herts, EN4 0PY on the 20th and 21st of October 2009 and will start with lunch on the 20th October at 12.30pm include a networking dinner and overnight accommodation. The workshop will conclude on the 21st October by 12.45pm.
The workshop will be facilitated by an external consultant Carol Sherriff who is also an associate lecturer in Knowledge Management at the Open University. The workshops are designed to be extremely interactive and will include case studies and attendance from external stakeholders.
There is no attendance fee and accommodation, lunch, dinner and refreshments will be provided - delegates will however be required to cover travel expenses.
