December BEN event: Bristol - the Next Ten Years

Bristol - the Next Ten Years

Tuesday 02 December 2008, 18:00 - 21:00
At Bristol, Harbourside, Bristol, BS1 5DB

Speaker(s): Prof Rob Cuthbert (Deputy Vice Chancellor), University of the West of England; Stephen Lansdown (Chairman) Hargreaves Lansdown; Sarah-Jane Chilcott (Programme Manager) Science City, Bristol

Bristol is world-renowned for its aerospace industry, creative industries and being the European centre for silicon design. With two leading Universities, a rich heritage and a vibrant culture it is a city on the move.

What will the future hold for Bristol over the decade? Is there another technology sector that could emerge alongside these established ones? Will we continue to see the same levels of start-up activity and inward investment? Will Bristol remain a place that businesses wish to move to, and graduates want to work in, and how will the city's infrastructure cope with such change? Or will we fall behind as larger British and European cities are able to invest more money and build bigger and better?

Our speaker panel features three prominent and established leaders in Bristol drawn from business and academia. Hear their vision for Bristol's next ten years and come and take part in the debate on the city's future direction.
