Enterprise training for staff and researchers

If you think you might have a business idea that may be a commercial success you want to get advice and feedback from people who have a track record of success.  You may also like to compete for a share of a £30,000 prize fund by entering our New Enterprise Competition.  This annual competition is designed to inspire and generate new high-growth businesses and to stimulate entrepreneurial talent.

Staff Development courses are open to staff and research postgraduates at the University and typically cover such areas as: leadership, management and supervision; personal development; research; learning technologies; computing; health and safety; and equal opportunity.

The Bristol Enterprise Network (BEN) is the University's facility to assist knowledge transfer among the high-tech, high-growth business community.  The network, which is free to join, brings together regional, national and international organisations from both the commercial and academic arenas.  It provides easy and rapid access to the knowledge, expertise, experience and equipment that is available.  Some of the benefits of membership are the opportunity to network with business people, access to a group of entrepreneurs, interaction with researchers and leading academics, and also sign up to attend a series of training and development opportunities including presentations, lectures, seminars and workshop.

The Careers Advisory Service is situated in 11 Priory Road and a Careers Adviser is on duty at regular periods throughout the day if you want to talk to someone about your career options.  They hold a series of talks, courses and workshops and their Skills for Success programme includes training on such subjects as time management, negotiation and leadership skills.
