ESRC UoB internal peer review (UPER)

All UoB ESRC proposals from any faculty are required to be submitted for peer review four weeks prior to the date of intended submission to the ESRC. The process which is being overseen by RED, has been endorsed by University Research Committee and is part of UoB’s response to ESRC Demand Management agendas. A key aim is to further raise the quality of submitted proposals, and improve success rates.

NB the process will apply to all ESRC proposals unless applications are for a particular ESRC scheme which is part of an internal/major bids competition.

If you are submitting a proposal to the open call (responsive mode) where there is no set deadline, you will need to determine your own planned deadline for submission to ESRC and communicate this clearly to RED (esrc-uper@bristol.ac.uk) who can provide advice if necessary.

The diagram outlining how the peer review works can be found below. Please remember that RED are able to provide advice and guidance at any stage during the application process.
