About Knowledge Escalator
The University's Research and Enterprise Development (RED) division has secured further funding from the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) and the European Regional Development Fund for the Knowledge Escalator programme.
This is a collaboration of all the Universities in the South West, although much of the activity is focused on knowledge exchange activities within the University.
Examples of projects funded include our annual New Enterprise Competition; funding for our Student Entrepreneur in Residence; the roll-out of our highly successful programme to support academics to become non-executive directors and direct support for academics wishing to support enterprise activity within their Faculty or Department.
In addition to this, the Knowledge Escalator programme supports several 'flagship initiatives'. The University of Bristol is leading on two of these. One is to support the development of the Bristol Enterprise Network. The other is a series of events and seminars on the future for the Aerospace Industry which forms part of the University's contribution to the BAC100 celebrations taking place throughout 2010.
The Knowledge Escalator Project is part financed by the European Union's ERDF Competitiveness and Employment Programme 2007-13 securing £1,833,000 of ERDF investment through the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA).
