Dr. Xiao Ai is an innovator and project engineer with broad interests in electronics and optics. Through the QTEC fellowship with intensive business training, Xiao is currently working towards setting up an oil and gas instrumentation business Quantum Light Metrology QLM. The quantum inspired technology Xiao has developed in the past 4 years from his postdoc work in Bristol University leads to a product that is 10 times more sensitive compared to the closest competitor in the market in the natural gas leak detection application.www.qlmtec.com
Neciah Dorh - FluoretiQ
Dr. Neciah Dorh hails from the sunny shores of St. Lucia. He moved to University of Bristol in 2009 to begin undergraduate studies in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and progressed to a PhD in the same area in early 2013. His research was based on Nano-antenna design for enhancing UV fluorescence with a particular focus on applications around water quality monitoring. He co-founded FluoretiQ Limited, who are developing fluorescence sensors which utilise quantum-optics technology to yield orders of magnitude improvement in sensitivity and maximise noise robustness. FluoretiQ is currently exploring applications in environment monitoring and bio-technology, with customer trials beginning in summer 2017.www.fluoretiq.com
Philip Sibson - KETS Quantum Security
Dr Philip Sibson completed his M.Eng in Engineering Science at Oxford University and joined the Centre for Quantum Photonics at the University of Bristol in 2012. He recently completed his PhD in which he demonstrated the world’s first chip-to-chip quantum-secured communication link. This unique technology offers the strongest levels of security in a miniaturised and cost-effective manufacturing platform to enable large-scale adoption. He cofounded KETS Quantum Security Ltd (KETS) in July 2016 to deliver optical communications technology that enables the strongest digital encryption. KETS technology has many applications in diverse markets such as defence, finance, governments, and data centres, and the team is currently developing the hardware from a lab-based demonstrator to prototype for early adopters and field trials.www.kets-quantum.com
Mateusz Piekarek - RayCal
Dr Mateusz Piekarek obtained an MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol, focusing on FPGA design and microelectronics. Subsequently Dr Piekarek joined the Centre for Quantum Photonics at the University of Bristol and obtained a PhD in Physics. He has worked on integrated filters for silicon quantum photonics, experimentally showing filters with over 100 dB extinction ratio, necessary for creating on-chip single-photon sources for quantum photonic applications. He has also worked on the FPGA design in order to control various opto-electronic equipment in a multiplexed single-photon source experiment. As a Quantum Technology Enterprise Fellow Dr Piekarek is working on commercialising photonic quantum technologies.
