Dr Claire Braboszcz awarded prize for study investigating hypnosis

Dr Claire Braboszcz has been awarded a prize from the International Foundation for Research in Hypnosis for their study investigating hypnosis and higher level emotional and social processes. Using fMRI they showed that reduced pain sensation on one’s own hand as produced by hypnotic suggestion leads to attenuated activation of key emotional components in brain areas related to processing of pain when seeing other people’s hand in pain. Claire led this research in collaboration with Dr Farinelli and Prof. Vuilleumier at the University of Geneva and it has been published in 2017 in Scientific Reports (DOI:10.1038/s41598-017-10310-4)
