Dr Osama Mahmoud recognised for contribution to Diabetic Medicine

Dr Osama Mahmoud, TARG researcher, has had his article recognised as a top 20 most read paper in Diabetic Medicine
TARG senior research statistician, Dr Osama Mahmoud, has been recognised by Diabetic Medicine journal, as an article he co-authored "Continuing rise of Type 2 diabetes incidence in children and young people in the UK" is among the top downloaded papers among articles published in the journal between January 2017 and December 2018 in the first 12 months following publication.
The article highlighted a trend in increased incidence of Type 2 diabetes from 2005 to 2015 in children and young adults under the age of 17 years in the UK, with significantly increased incidence among girls and South-Asian children. It provided evidences that female gender, family history, non-white ethnicity, and obesity are associated with the condition.
The immediate immediate impact and visibility of this work should contribute significantly to the advancement of this field.
