Dr Osama Mahmoud recognised for contribution to Diabetic Medicine

Dr Osama Mahmoud, a researcher from the Tobacco and Alcohol Group, has had one of his articles recognised as a top 20 most read paper in Diabetic Medicine.
TARG Senior Researcher, Dr Osama Mahmoud, has been recognised by the Diabetic Medicine journal for an article that he co-authored. The article is among the top downloaded papers among articles published in the journal between January 2017 and December 2018 in the first 12 months following publication.
The article highlighted a trend in increased incidence of Type 2 Diabetes from 2005 to 2015 in children and young adults under the age of 17 years old in the UK, with significantly increased incidence among girls and South-Asian children. It provided evidences that female gender, family history, non-white ethnicity, and obesity are associated with the condition.
