Liz Smith and Chris Jarrold’s research on Down syndrome reported in Special Children magazine and the Down syndrome Association Journal
27 October 2015
Liz Smith and Chris Jarrold have recently had articles printed in Special Children magazine and the Down syndrome Association Journal, based on their research looking into memory training for individuals with Down syndrome
Dr Liz Smith and Professor Chris Jarrold’s findings regarding routes to improve verbal short-term memory for those with Down syndrome (carried out during Liz’s PhD) caught the attention of Special Children magazine and the Down syndrome Association, with both recently printing articles on the findings. Liz has been invited to present the findings on this topic at a meeting organised by the Down syndrome Medical Interest group combined with the RSM Intellectual Disability forum on 20th November in London. The forum, entitled ‘Progress for children with Down syndrome: Health and education’ is aimed mainly at consultant paediatricians. Liz and Chris are now carrying out research on executive functions in Down syndrome, as well as a vocabulary intervention in collaboration with the University of Oslo.
