Inside Science

18 June 2015

Dr Suzi Gage speaks to BBC Inside Science about sexism in Science.

This week, BBC Inside Science is devoted to the subject of sexism in science, following the comments from Tim Hunt about women in laboratories.

During today's programme [18th June], Dr Suzi Gage presented her views of sexism alongside four other female researchers who are at differing stages of their scientific career. With presenter Adam Rutherford, they explore whether the culture of science - from school, through university and into the lab - is rigged against women getting grants, staying in the world of research and getting promotion.

They also question if the pressures on scientists to publish many papers militate against women getting to the top of the profession and if there is an unconscious bias against women making it in science.
