Plain packaging research hits headlines

A paper published online this week by Olivia Maynard, Ute Leonards and Marcus Munafo in the journal Addiction, found that young, non-established smokers looked at health warnings on cigarette packages more when they were shown on plain packages as compared with the normal branded packages.

In response to the online publication of this paper, the journal Addiction and the University of Bristol published press releases describing the study. Olivia also gave radio interviews to BBC Bristol Radio on Saturday 11th August (listen from 1hour 38 minutes) and the Voice of Russia radio programme on Wednesday 8th August. Olivia is also due to give another interview to BBC Swindon Radio on Monday 13th August.
