A foundation to end child poverty: How universal child benefits can build a fairer, more inclusive and resilient future

In a new report on universal child benefits, Save the Children emphasizes how child specific benefits for families are needed in the fight against child poverty, and why we need move progressively towards universal child benefits.  It’s more urgent than ever that children are protected from poverty, hunger and other deprivations. Covid-19 has highlighted how many children are not systematically protected despite commitments in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and SDG1. Humanitarian responses – including cash – are vital but more governments need to make more systematic commitments.
