Bristol psychologist awarded Parliamentary Academic Fellowship

Dr Olivia Maynard has been awarded a Parliamentary Academic Fellowship to work in the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST).

Dr Olivia Maynard, Lecturer in Experimental Psychology, has been awarded a Parliamentary Academic Fellowship to work in the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST). POST is Parliament’s in-house source of independent, balanced and accessible analysis of public policy issues. POST produce policy briefings, known as ‘POSTnotes’, based on a review of the literature, discussion with experts and peer review.

Dr Maynard will work with those in POST to produce research briefings on various issues related to tobacco smoking, and tobacco control policies. These may include briefings on emerging tobacco and nicotine containing products and tobacco control policy after Brexit. She will also be working with POST to arrange parliamentary seminars on some of these issues. These will be announced on POST’s website in 2018.

Olivia is due to start the fellowship in June 2018 and the role will involve working closely with those in POST at the Palace of Westminster and remotely at the University of Bristol.
