Women in Parliament

At the start of a week of much discussion around the position of women in Cameron's cabinet reshuffle, the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Women in Parliament on Monday published its report 'Improving Parliament - Creating a better and more representative house'. Professor Sarah Childs, Professor of Politics and Gender at the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies, was an adviser to this Inquiry. The APPG was set up in 2010 with the aim of reaching out to women to encourage them into public life and looking at ways to increase the number of women in Parliament.

Professor Childs has written a blog for PolicyBristol on this topic which outlines the Inquiry's key recommendations and the report has already received wide attention in media and political circles.
