Aims and objectives

The Strategic Planning and Projects Office is part of the Support Services, reporting to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer.

Our aims are

1. To provide a policy development and research support service to the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar and the members of the Vice-Chancellor's Advisory Group.

2. To manage, develop and coordinate the University's planning process and the monitoring of its plans, including:

• providing analysis and modelling, and developing scenarios to inform decision making;

• reviewing the national and global environment;

• engaging with major external partners, including liaison with the Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE), informed by the strategic interests of the University.

3. To manage and coordinate major cross-University change, systems and process projects and programmes, including:

• supporting the identification, review, revision and enhancement of all administrative processes across the University;

• steering and coordinating the portfolio of projects and programmes, ensuring that objectives are delivered;

• ensuring programme and project developments are compliant with University strategy and policy;

• developing project management and process review methodologies and ensuring they are used effectively.

4. To support related processes including:

• the interface between the University Vision and Strategy and annual and medium-term recurrent and capital budgets;

• risk management;

• value for money;

• accountability to internal and external stakeholders.

5. To work with the Registrar and University Secretary to ensure the proper and efficient governance of the University, supporting meetings of Council, Senate and Court and making sure that these bodies operate in conformity with the University's constitution and audit, regulatory and legal requirements.
